To rank in Google’s SERPs, your content must first be discovered by Googlebot. It helps to think of Googlebot as a surveyor and websites as real estate in development, but on a large scale. The surveyor goes around, marks the new properties and places them on the map, so to speak.

If a website is not crawled and indexed (discovered and mapped), it has no way of ranking for the keywords it is trying to rank for. It’s just nowhere on the map. Every new website and every piece of new content placed on old websites must be crawled and indexed by Googlebot. This sometimes takes a long time, depending on whether or not Google prioritizes your website.

To bypass this waiting period, you can simply build quality backlinks to authority websites and news websites that receive a lot of daily traffic. These websites are high on Google’s priority list and are crawled daily.

If you manage to get a link from one of them to your newly published content, the Googlebot will follow that link (and all other links on subsequent pages) and get to your website sooner than expected. Essentially, your website now skips the queue and your content gets indexed faster due to the backlinks you’ve earned.
